Starting to see large numbers of dead / floating shad around the dock today.  (Normal to see shad die going into the early spring.)  Good time to throw a jerk bait for the bass feeding on the struggling shad!  Lots of surface current with the inflow of water that Table Rock is releasing after the massive flooding that occurred in Springfield last week.  Looking at water levels to remain steady through this weekend.  Lower road around to the boat launch should be drivable as well.  Water color is great for bass fishing right now!  Fish the pre-spawn patterns for bass.  They are holding at about 10 ft suspended.  Not right on the banks just yet.

Water Level – 660.2 and rising

Water Temp 50- 55 degrees

Water is Stained

Black Bass – Good Pre-Spawn pattern.  Jig, Jerk Bait (Diving/Suspending) and Soft Plastics in 10 to 15 ft.  Throw a “Pearl” color plastic in the form of a Swim Shad or Fluke.  Also try a Wiggle Wart or Spinner Bait on breezy days.   A Rig also working on suspended bass.

Crappie – Slow to Good on live minnows and small plastics.  Getting better every week, just need some sunny days.  Not on the banks yet.  10 to 15 ft in the coves around brush piles and trees.

Walleye – Slow on crank baits and Night Crawlers.  Have had reports of a few shorts being caught, but not a lot of bites yet.  More action up the lake toward the Power Site Damn.

White Bass – No action around K Dock yet.  Much better up the lake.  Need another 5 to 10 degree warm up.
