Well… I have been a little preoccupied with the devastating flood that hit us at the end of April. Sorry so long to post a report, but have been very busy trying to straighten the Marina out. However, things are looking up! The lake is still very high, but in perfect fishing and boating conditions this week! Here is what I have been hearing from the fishermen and women the past two weeks:
Water Level – 688.7 (29 feet above normal)
Water Temp – 83 to 86
Water is Clear to Stained
Black Bass (Large Mouth, Small Mouth & Spotted Bass) Good on big 10″ Plum colored plastic worms off of flooded road beds. Also good on 1/2 oz jigs in 10 to 20 ft off of flooded flats and points. Crank baits also good off of points and rocky bluffs. Top water bite is good to fair in flooded brush. Try a weed less frog.
Walleye – Good to Fair on night crawlers on flooded flats. Medium size crank baits also working along the points and bluffs trolling. Many being caught still shallow in 6 to 15 ft. But, look for suspended walleye in 20 to 30 ft on your graph. Drop a white or silver 1/2 oz spoon if you get on top of them!
Crappie – Slow due to high water. Swimming minnows or live minnows around flooded trees.
White Bass – Slow due to high water.
Cat Fish – Good to Fair on Trot lines. Also night crawlers in the entrance to coves.
Blue Gill – Very Good on Crickets about anywhere! Also a great time to rig the kids up with a worm and a bobber in any cove!
